HP and Universal Music Group offer Asian consumers free music downloadsby Benjamin Li 17-Sep-09, 12:32SINGAPORE - HP and Universal Music Group (UMG) have entered into partnership to offer consumers in Asia free music downloads from October. Music lovers and consumers in Asia Pacific (except Australia, New Zealand and Japan) buying HP consumer notebook PCs during the promotion period will receive a scratch card and PIN number to register on a dedicated website, gaining access to UMG’s music library. The library will offer users 1,000 downloadable tracks with a validity of one year and 120 to keep indefinitely. This is the second major HP crossover partnership. Earlier this year the firm joined The Cartoon Network to develop a video competition. Parallel to the deal with Universal, HP is offering consumers purchasing laptops after 24 October unlimited access to 12 popular computer games, in conjunction with online gaming platform WildTangent.
