Sanofi Aventis calls global agency pitchby Tracey Furniss 13-Feb-09, 14:10| McCann Healthcare | Saatchi & Saatchi | Ogilvy | Agencies | Advertising | Pitching | Pharmaceuticals OTC | GLOBAL - French pharmaceutical firm Sanofi Aventis is understood to have called a global pitch, with the creative business alone worth US$30 million. At least four agencies have been shortlisted in Asia-Pacific. According to sources, incumbent Publicis is vying against Ogilvy HealthWorld, Saatchi & Saatchi and McCann Healthcare. Other agencies in the review have not been disclosed. The company is expected to make a final decision next month. Presentations are still ongoing in other regions, although the client is believed to have trimmed its pitch roster to four agencies in Europe. Sanofi Aventis is the fourth largest global pharmaceutical player which specialises not only in medicines and vaccines but integrated healthcare. The four agencies shortlisted in Asia-Pacific are understood to be involved in ongoing presentations in other world markets. Sanofi Aventis was formed in 2004 when Sanofi-Synthélabo acquired Aventis.
