Danone pitches Aqua's digital business in Indonesia

by Asiya Bakht    3-Nov-09, 12:21

JAKARTA - French food and drink giant Danone has called a digital pitch for its mineral water brand Aqua in Indonesia, and three agencies - OgilvyOne, Initiative and MPG - are believed to vying for the business.

MPG currently handles part of Danone's business in the market, including the mineral water brands.

Danone, which owns several water brands worldwide, acquired Aqua in Indonesia in 2001. It has additionally acquired Yili and Robust in the region, and, until recently, had a 51 per cent stake in China's Wahaha Joint Venture Company, making it the leading vendor of packaged water in Asia.

Last month, Danone handed its media planning and buying account for China to OMD as part of the company's global media review.

The French-based company called the market-by-market review earlier this year, mirroring the process it undertook in 2005 and 2006. In Asia, 20 markets were belived to be a part of this review.

In Japan, Danone is understood to be reviewing the creative account for its Evian mineral water brand, which is globally aligned with Euro RSCG but handled by Ogilvy & Mather in that market.
