Levi's Asia-Pacific hires Tod Gimbel as senior director of corporate affairs

by Jane Leung    10-Feb-10, 12:19

SINGAPORE - Levi Strauss & Co (Levi’s) has appointed Tod Gimbel (pictured) as its senior director of corporate affairs based in Singapore.

Gimbel will report to Aaron Boey, president of Levi Strauss Asia-Pacific division, and Jill Nash, chief communications officer and VP of corporate affairs in San Francisco.

Gimbel will support Asia-Pacific and South Africa to head all communications, community and government affairs for Levi’s. He is tasked with boosting grantmaking, corporate social responsibility and employee volunteerism initiatives. International trade, sourcing and intellectual property rights are also the areas Gimbel will oversee.

Speaking of his plans for Levi's, Gimbel said: "Here in Asia-Pacific I don’t think people are aware of Levi’s historic and groundbreaking work in the areas of responsible sourcing, environmental sustainability and HIV/AIDS. I’d like to get that message out."

The company has also launched an enviornmental campaign, which is currently running in American and will eventually reach Asa-Pacific.

In view of its annual Levi's 501 Day on 1 May last year, the jeans brand launched a special-edition organic cotton line to reinforce its environmentally conscious stand.

Prior to Levi’s, Gimbel worked at Kraft Foods Asia-Pacific. His twenty years of PR experience also includes Philip Morris and Miller Brewing Company.
